You know what I love about Jesus?
It’s how gentle He is with us.
He yearns for a relationship with us, yet He never begs.
He doesn’t intrude.
He doesn’t force Himself.
He doesn’t disrespect us.
He’s a gentleman. Wouldn’t you agree?
I often think about that man in the Bible who ran up to Jesus, eager and ready. He said, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” He was so earnest. And when Jesus lovingly told him the truth — when He asked him to let go of his wealth — the man sadly walked away.
Here’s the part that wrecks me (in the best way):
The Bible says, “Jesus looked at him and loved him.”
That’s it.
No chasing.
No persuading.
No “let me fix this for you.”
Just love.
A still, strong, unwavering love.
When I reflect on that, I realize how often we chase relationships — friendships, family, romantic relationships — desperately trying to fix or force them. When they fall apart, sometimes we’re left shattered, questioning everything.
But here’s the truth I’m learning (sometimes the hard way):
Healthy relationships can’t be forced.
Real connections require willingness. Compromise. Conversation.
If someone can’t even come to the table to talk things through — especially when conflict arises — that’s a red flag I can’t ignore anymore. As uncomfortable (or as my daughter says, “cringy”) as it might be, real healing happens when we’re willing to have those tough conversations.
And listen, I’m not claiming I always get this right.
I can be the first to shut down when I see someone’s unwillingness.
But because Jesus inspires me, I choose to initiate anyway.
I choose to create the atmosphere for healing.
I choose to humble myself, even when it’s hard.
I choose growth, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Why?
Because I know what Jesus has done for me.
You probably know too — He went to the cross.
He suffered, bled, and died out of pure, unstoppable love.
For you.
For me.
And because of that kind of love, I want to live differently.
Even when I feel weak, I can go back to Him for strength.
Even when relationships feel messy, I can model His love.
Even when it hurts, I can grow.
Friend, if you find yourself in a season where relationships are hard, or you feel lost after disappointment, know this: You don’t have to chase love. You are already deeply loved.
And if you’re ready to heal, aspire, and grow deeper — in your relationship with yourself, others, and most importantly, with God — I’d love to walk alongside you.
