So, how about you?
How are you allowing yourself to be transformed by the mind of Christ?

That’s a question I’ve been sitting with lately. It’s easy to quote Romans 12:2—*“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind”—*but it hits different when you realize this isn’t just about positive thinking or a temporary mindset shift. It’s about total, ongoing transformation. One that lets us see through different lenses: insight, foresight, hindsight, and good old-fashioned eyesight. One that helps us discern—not just survive.

And you know what’s been unexpectedly showing up in this journey?

An octopus.

Yes. That eight-limbed, shape-shifting, deep-sea creature somehow made its way into my spirit-filled dishwashing moment (you read that right). I wasn’t even thinking about octopuses, but suddenly I found myself Googling them. Turns out, they don’t just have eight arms—they have eight brains. Or technically, one central brain and a mini brain in each arm. That’s wild. And the more I read, the more it hit me: this has to be a revelation.

What if we lived with that kind of adaptability?
What if we moved through life like the octopus in the ocean—ever adjusting, ever sensing, always responding wisely?

But more than that—what if we took it up a level and embraced the mindset of Jesus?

Let me take you to one of my favorite stories: the woman caught in adultery. The Pharisees dragged her out, ready to stone her. And Jesus? He didn’t panic. He didn’t argue. He stooped down and started writing in the dirt. That’s it. Then he calmly said, “Let the one without sin cast the first stone.”

Mic. Drop.

One by one, the accusers walked away. And then—this is the part I love—Jesus saw her. He acknowledged her humanity. He said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and leave your life of sin.” He didn’t shame her. He empowered her. He commanded the atmosphere without even raising his voice.

That’s the kind of transformation I crave. The kind that’s not loud, not performative—but deeply powerful.
That’s why I’ve got a holy dissatisfaction with where I am spiritually. Not in a guilt-trip kind of way, but in a pressing in kind of way. I want more discernment. More peace. More intimacy with God. I want to thrive—not just survive—in any atmosphere, just like the octopus does in the depths of the sea. But even more, I want to command the atmosphere the way Jesus did.

Because this world is heavy.
People are anxious.
One federal worker I know died from the sheer stress of it all. Sat down at her desk, 53 years old, and never got back up.

We don’t have time to play small.

So here’s my invitation to you:
Let’s press in. Let’s take on the mindset of Christ—fully, courageously, and unapologetically. Let’s adapt, discern, and respond with power and peace. Let’s stop letting life drag us around and start commanding the atmosphere around us.
