...

There’s something beautifully divine about the timing of certain themes in our lives. And this season? It’s all about kindness.

Maybe it’s because we’re entering the holidays… Thanksgiving, Christmas, moments of gathering and giving. Or maybe—just maybe—it’s because God knows some of us need this reminder right now, in the quiet places of our hearts.

For me, November—my birth month—feels like the perfect time to lean deeper into kindness. Not the kind we try to manufacture on our own. Not the kind we force. The kind that grows as fruit. Fruit of the Spirit. Fruit that only comes when the roots have gone deep.

The Mercy Seat That Shifted My Whole Perspective

Recently, I stumbled on a scripture that shook me in the sweetest way. I had never seen it like this before. Exodus 25:17:

“And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold…”

God gave measurements for mercy. He was intentional about where His people could meet Him… where kindness, compassion, and forgiveness would be released.

A mercy seat.
A kindness seat.

When I read this, I paused. I sat with it. I asked myself:

If God thought mercy deserved a designated place, structure, and instruction…
Then why do I so often withhold that same mercy from myself?

Isn’t that where many of us get stuck? We have no problem giving, serving, showing up for everyone else—especially in this season. But when it comes to being kind to ourselves, suddenly the mercy seat feels out of reach.

Yet God clearly says:

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Which implies—no, expects—that we start with kindness toward our own souls.

How Mercy Pulled Me Out of the Pit

When I look back at the hardest seasons of my life—the anxiety, the depression, the insecurity—the thing that lifted me wasn’t positive thinking or external validation.

It was mercy.

God’s mercy was the rope that pulled me out… the voice that reminded me:

“You are special.
You are set apart.
You are holy, blameless, royalty.”

And let me tell you—once that understanding rewrites your internal software?
You walk differently.
You think differently.
You’re armed and dangerous because you’re rooted in truth.

The Bible says God crowned you with love and compassion.
He stooped down to make you great.

That’s kindness.
That’s the anchor.
Steadfast. Unmovable. Irrefutable.

Your Invitation to the Mercy Seat

So as the world speeds up this season, I want to gently remind you:

When everything feels heavy…
When you mess up…
When you wonder how you’re going to climb out of the moment you’re in…

Remember the mercy seat.

God invites you to meet Him there.
He said He would make an appointment with you there.

And the requirement?

A broken and contrite heart.
That’s it.

Not perfection.
Not performance.
Just honest surrender.

Kindness to the World Begins With Kindness to Yourself

This season, yes—give, love, serve, share.
But don’t forget the first person God asked you to show kindness to: you.

Because when you operate from that healed place, that rooted place, that mercy-filled place—you show up for others more authentically than ever before.

Here at Eve Speaks, all we do is heal, aspire, and grow. And you’re invited into that journey too.
