Once upon a time, I wanted to heal more than I wished to the Healer. I didn’t realize the depth of what that truly meant until I began my journey of confronting anxiety. For a long time, all I could cry out was, “Lord, just give me relief!” Can anyone relate? When you’re in the thick of it, it’s easy to want the pain to just go away. No more sleepless nights, no more racing thoughts—just peace. I wanted to be free from the struggle, but what I didn’t see was that healing in isolation isn’t the full picture.
Sure, I could be healed of one thing, but what about all the other broken parts of me that I didn’t even know existed? Healing is great, but without the Healer, it’s like putting a bandage on a wound that hasn’t been fully treated.
I was reminded of a story in the Bible about the ten blind men Jesus healed. Only one came back to thank Him, and Jesus asked, “Where are the other nine?” They wanted the healing, not the Healer. And you know what? That was me. I wanted my anxiety gone, but I didn’t realize how much I needed the One who could walk with me through the process—not just to fix me in one area but to show me the places I didn’t even know were broken.
The Shift from Healing to the Healer
Over time, I began to understand the difference. It’s like wanting the Giver, not just the gift. Imagine being in a relationship where someone only cares about what you can give them. That’s not love; that’s a transaction. The same is true with God. When I shifted my focus to desiring the Healer—building intimacy with Jesus—I began to experience deeper, more holistic healing.
Here’s the truth: healing isn’t always instant. And it’s not just about the absence of pain but about the presence of wholeness. I began to see areas of my life I didn’t even know needed attention. For example, I struggled with receiving compliments. I could clap for others, cheer them on, and celebrate their wins, but when it came to me? I felt uncomfortable. That was an area where I still needed healing—and I wouldn’t have realized it without walking with the Healer.
A Journey, Not a Destination
Knowing the Healer allows for continuous revelation. It’s a journey of uncovering the layers, growing in self-awareness, and being made whole. When you walk with the Healer, you don’t just get relief; you get insight, growth, and transformation.
So, let me ask you: Are you seeking healing, or are you seeking the Healer? The Healer offers a full, 360-degree transformation. It’s not just about feeling better temporarily but about experiencing a life that’s whole and fulfilling.
